Welcome to the Connecticut Chapter of the American Harp Society!
A Note from the President:
Welcoming Spring with Harp Events!
Hello everyone! So happy to welcome Spring, and to invite you to our upcoming Chapter events! We are hosting an exciting Celtic Workshop and Lecture Concert on May 31st with the Masterclass from 2-3:30 – you can bring your harp and learn a tune from ear – (music will also be available) taught at different levels by Rhiannon Skye – an award winning Celtic harpist – and then a reception and camaraderie – and after that, from 4 – 5, Rhiannon will play Irish and Scottish tunes for us and discuss Irish and Scottish traditional music - ‘Comparing The Tunes and How They Are Played’. I hope to see you there! More information is on our Events page!
In March the Chapter hosted a marvelous Masterclass with students from all over the state, followed by a beautiful reception, games and activities for the kids, and then a wonderful concert with solos and duos by 8 of CT’s professional harpists. It was held in the lovely Church in Hamden of the Unitarian Society of New Haven. It was a terrific event and a great showcase for the riches of the CT Chapter. We have a wonderful community of harpists throughout the state including harp teachers, performers, students and friends of the harp.
The CT Chapter is a great resource of harp activities, information, inspiration, support and community. I am delighted to work to continue that tradition along with all of our talented and dedicated Board members. I also would love to hear your thoughts and ideas and suggestions.
Please renew your membership so you can learn about, and take part in all our events, and remember that CT Chapter membership is separate from the national American Harp Society membership.
Thanks for your participation, and your love of the harp.
I hope to see you soon -
Warmly, Wendy Kerner, President, CT Chapter American Harp Society
